Little Maverick

Alex used our new camera to capture some really sweet and fun pictures of Brooks playing in the backyard in his Mavericks sweatsuit with a basketball. The weather was beautiful and he was having a blast.

Fun at the Galleria

Aunt Heather came up for the day and we took Brooks over to the Galleria Play Place for lunch and some run around time. We had never been to that particular play area but heard it was great and there have been lots of write ups on it. It was pretty amazing! It was a jungle / animal theme so there were lots of BIG animals, caves, bridges and other fun things for him to crawl onto. His favorite thing to do was sit on the elephant's trunk until he discovered that he could crawl high up on top of the bridge and river play area!

Unfortunately, it was SO crowded (b/c we went on the weekend) so the older kids were very rowdy and bumping into and knocking over the little ones. Brooks didn't seem to notice too much but I think we will stick with the weekdays from now on.

First Haircut

Alex gave Brooks his first haircut last week. His hair is still very fine and thin; however, it was getting long over his ears and he was starting to look like a rag doll. Alex sat him in the big boy chair in the garage and showed him how the clippers work on his own head. Brooks thought it was pretty cool and allowed Alex to cut the majority of his hair in the garage. He started to get a bit antsy, so we moved him inside, cut up an orange and sat him in front of Nemo for the remainder of his cut. He did really well! He even picked up the clippers after his cut, put them to his head and made the noise that clippers make!

Little Fireman

Of course I couldn't help but post these pictures because I think Brooks looks so cute in his fireman hat. We got this at Toys R Us a long time ago and he refused to put it on because he HATES hats. In the last couple of months, he has grown very fond of his fireman hats and now puts it on all the time and walks around the house with it.

Lovin' the Outdoors

Brooks loves the outdoors as much as his parents. He is happiest when he is running around in the backyard, at a park or anywhere there are no boundaries! We can't wait until he is old enough to run around the land at the cabin in Broken Bow!!! If he is ever fussy we just take him out to play. He enjoys removing all the cushions from the chairs, climbing on the patio furniture, using his tools to hammer everything from the fence to daddy's trailer to the birdhouse, playing in his car and climbing over and through the planters. He has learned to 'throw' the ball to Nellie too. He is always on the go!

Brooks' 15 Month Checkup

Wow, is he already 15 months old??? How time flies! We took Brooks in yesterday for his 15 month checkup and everything was great. STATS:

21 lbs: 5 - 10%
32" tall: 75%
50% for head size

The doc said that everything looks really good. He is way advanced in his motor skills, which we already knew, and a bit below normal in his verbal skills. He knows everything we say to him and can follow directions; however, he is too busy to find the time to say a lot of 'real' words. We read to him at least 3-4 times a day (as books are really his favorite toy) and work with him on all sorts of words, but he mostly gets the first or last part of words. He did learn what a pig says so he snorts and it is really funny - just like mommy's laugh! He also tries to make an elephant noise. His favorite word is still FISH or 'ish' as he says. We'll just keep on working with him and hopefully he will have progressed by his 18 month appointment.

Other than that, things are great. He is just the cutest little thing ever. I can't believe in 2 1/2 weeks we'll have another one...YIKES!

35 Weeks!

Well, we only have 3 weeks to go before baby Colt will officially be part of our family! I am scheduled to go in for my c-section on Friday, January 23rd at 7:30AM. I am definitely bigger than I was with Brooks (I look like I did the day before I delivered him) AND I am absolutely ready to have this baby and not be pregnant anymore. Although I have had two easy pregnancies, this one has been harder on my body than the first - lots more aches and pains, less sleep and chasing around a 14 month old makes it that much harder. I am thankful, however, that everything is OK and me and the baby are healthy!

Here I am at 35 weeks...
