Growing Boys

We had Colt's 6 month check up yesterday. He is such a big boy and the kid is getting busier and busier by the day. We thought he was going to be our calm and cuddly one but I think we were very wrong. He is all over the place now and a little squirmy worm when you try to hold him.

Brooks:

Weight - 23 lbs (5% -10%)
Height - 34 in (75% - 90%)

Colt:

Weight - 17 lbs (50%)
Height - 28 in (90% - 95%)

I guess my boys got their height from the Kaiser side because it definitely isn't from my side of the family! Thank goodness for that :-)

YUMMY Peas!

We finally got to start Colt on some real food once we returned from Florida. He has been ready to eat food other than oatmeal for a while now and I think he actually liked it (or sort of liked it). He definitely didn't make a gagging face like Brooks the first time we fed him peas! Now he eats peas and green beans. What a good eater!!!

What a Cute Fireman

Brooks is completely into trucks right now and my dad bought him a fire truck and hat a while back. My mom took this video of him at their house playing with his truck - too cute!

Florida Vacation

My mom, sister and I took the boys to Florida to visit my mom's family and attend my cousin Alexis' baby shower. This was Colt's first trip on a plane and Brooks' third but first since he started walking. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous about the flight!

I got Brooks dressed up really cute in his white pants and argyle shirt and of course he decided to play in the mud before we got in the car for the airport. So, his nice white pants were brown with mud. Oh well, boys will be boys!

We attended Alexis' beautiful shower on Saturday. This his her first baby, a girl, so she was showered with amazing and adorable little girl gifts - lots of pink! She is absolutely glowing and looks beautiful pregnant. Little Kira is due in August.

We spent every night with family just having dinner and good conversation. We don't get to see our family very often so any time we see one another is very special. This is the first time my Aunt Paula and my cousins have met Colt so that made the trip extra special.

On Sunday we celebrated my sister's birthday by spending some time at the beach. Brooks hadn't been to the beach since we were last in Florida and he was 6 months old. Colt has never been to the beach. Brooks took a little while to warm up to the sand and ocean but by the end of our time there he was making sand castles with Uncle Skip, playing in the water and riding on a John Deere sitting on the sand.

Almost Crawling

Colt is up on all fours and rocking. He is not quite 6 months yet and I think crawling is in the VERY near future!!!

I just thought this was such a cute picture and shows Colt's sweet and happy demeanor so well. What a happy kid he is!

My Little Fish

Brooks finished his ISR classes a couple of weeks ago and has become a little fish. He absolutely loves the water and spends all day every Saturday playing and swimming in my parents pool. He is getting better and better each time he gets in the water. This video is from a few weeks ago and he is actually doing 100% better swimming, using his arms, jumping into the pool from the side without anyone holding him etc. It is incredible! Next up is Colt (starting August 10th!).

Swimming Party

A little friend of Brooks' had his 2nd birthday party a few weeks ago. We went swimming at their house and Brooks was able to show off some of his new swimming skills!

Happy Birthday Justin!

4th of July Parade

Brooks and I walked with the Mom's Club in the Coppell 4th of July parade. It was about 105 degrees outside with no breeze at all! I had already run 10 miles that morning so my legs were a bit tired but I thought a little extra walking would stretch them out. The parade started at 10AM and we weren't 5 minutes into the parade when I looked down and noticed that Brooks had fallen asleep in the stroller! I guess the heat really got to him - poor baby.
